Power adapters and power cables for fitness equipment
A suitable power adapter supplies the correct voltage to your fitness machine’s console and electronics. Here you can find adapters and mains connections for various exercise bikes, cross trainers, rowing machines and other equipment. Always check the output voltage, current rating, polarity and connector before connecting an adapter.
Which power supply components can you find here?
The range includes low-voltage adapters and components for connecting to the mains. A power adapter converts mains voltage into the voltage the fitness machine needs. A mains cable or C13 connection, by contrast, supplies mains voltage directly to a machine with an internal power supply.
How do you choose the right adapter?
Check the rating plate near the machine’s power input or the details on the original adapter. Compare output voltage in volts, current type, current rating in amperes, polarity and connector size. All these characteristics must be suitable for the machine.
Must the voltage match exactly?
Yes, the replacement adapter’s output voltage must match the voltage required by the fitness machine. For example, do not connect a 12 V adapter to a machine that needs 9 V. Incorrect voltage may prevent operation or damage the electronics.
What about the current rating?
The adapter must be able to supply at least the current required by the fitness machine. An adapter with a lower maximum current rating may become overloaded. A higher available current rating is generally not a problem when voltage, current type, polarity and connector are correct, because the machine determines how much current it draws.
Why are polarity and connector size important?
On round power connectors, the centre contact may be positive or negative. This polarity must match the machine exactly. The connector’s inner and outer diameters must also fit. A connector that physically fits the socket is therefore not automatically electrically suitable.
Is a universal adapter always suitable?
No. “Universal” means an adapter can be used with several devices, but only when all electrical specifications and the connector match. Check these details before use and do not rely solely on the plug fitting physically.
Is the adapter actually faulty?
If a fitness machine will not start, the problem may also be caused by a damaged power input, loose wiring, a faulty console or control board. Check the cable and connections and, if in doubt, have the adapter output and machine examined before replacing a component.
Using an adapter safely
Do not use an adapter with a damaged cable, loose housing or bent connector. Keep the power supply dry and allow adequate heat dissipation. Unplug from the mains before connecting or removing power supply components or checking internal connections.
