Product description
The Pivot Fitness Heavy Grip Handtrainer is a specific type of hand gripper designed for serious strength training of the hands, fingers, and forearms. Unlike standard plastic grippers, these are built for heavier-duty use.
The Heavy Grips consist of two knurled aluminum handles connected by a thick steel torsion spring. The knurling provides extra grip, preventing the gripper from slipping out of your hands when you sweat.
Resistance LevelsWhat makes these trainers "Heavy" is their enormous resistance. While a normal hand trainer usually stops at 30 or 40 kg, Heavy Grips go much further. They are typically categorized by weight levels:
- Better Deadlift Strength: You are often only as strong as your grip. If your hands can’t hold the weight, you can’t fully train your back and legs.
- Forearm Aesthetics: It’s one of the few ways to build thick, muscular forearms.
- Functional Strength: Useful for daily tasks, martial arts (like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), climbing, or tennis.
- Injury Prevention: Strong tendons and muscles in the hands can help prevent issues like tennis elbow.
You don’t train with a Heavy Grip like a stress ball (hundreds of fast squeezes). Because of the high resistance, treat it like a strength exercise:
- Low Repetitions: Focus on 5–10 full closures (when the handles meet).
- Holds: Squeeze the trainer tightly and hold for as long as possible.
- Negatives: Use both hands to close the trainer, then try to slowly open it with one hand.
